A Peep Into The Shaky Future Of Radio

mcr-shaky15-5A recent report by the popular survey takers Nielsen reported that traditional means of broadcasting radio is still the most popular method used by radio stations in the US. According to the survey taken, it was found that more than two-thirds, nearly 63% claim that they discover new music through conventional radio stations. This report further claims that while music lovers have migrated to new forms of listening to music, the traditional AM/FM stations are here to stay, at least for the near future.
The survey further reported that while younger listeners listen to their music on newer platforms like spotify, traditional methods like local radio stations and word of mouth continue to dominate the music scenario. David Bakula, the Senior Client Development Head at Nielsen says that never before has the music industry been so vibrant. With new digital technology to access music, there is a great increase in the final consumers of music.

imageWith a detailed glimpse into the report one can understand that the number of users who listen to FM/AM radio every week has pretty much remained the same throughout the last decade. According to the data published by the Pew Research Center in the US, it was found out that 92% of people aged more than twelve years listened to traditionally broadcast radio at least once a week. This number has gone down by a meager 2% when compared to the year 2002.

The broadcasting and telecommunication industry of UK released its annual digital report. This report claims that more consumers are still buying FM radio equipments. All these predict a strong future for the radio industry. Though it may feel like traditional broadcasting is gradually sidelined by digital technology, the numbers claim the opposite.

So all radio lovers, your favorite mode of entertainment is here to stay and reign in the coming years.
